| Children's Literature has developed
a lot with the publication of journals catering to the children. With the
advent of Chilamboli a children's journal writers began
contributing to it. Very soon journals like Poompatta and
Baalarama started having a wide circulation. Kalikkutukka
another magazine for children, published by the Malayala Manorama publications
has gained tremendous popularity. |

| In the end of the 1950's and 1960's
very few writers catered to the needs of children alone. Among them the
name of Mali is very important. His work Sarkas (circus)
is a lovely story set in the background of a circus troupe. He has other
works too which attracted young readers. |

| Kunjunni, popularly known as Kunjunni
Mash writes small poems which appear to be childlike. These verses, carry
great messages that convey the deepest of philosophies. |

| Sumangala is a writer who has established
herself in the realm of Children's literature. Her translation of panchatantra
into Malayalam in simple prose is popular. Some of her other works are Mithayippoti
(packet of sweets), Neypaayasam (ghee porridge) and Manchaatikkuru.

| Some other noted authors who have contributed
to children's literature are P.Narendranath, C.G.Santhakumar, S.Sivadasan,
Sippy Pallippuram and K.V.Ramanathan. |
